These are just a few of the approximately 45 students
we are helping transform their lives through
Sarah contracted polio at age 2 and
never went to school. When an
American asked what she would wish
for, she asked that one of her brothers
be sent to school, because "I am
"useless." Instead, Educate the Girls
provides a tutor for her, and in her first
four months of tutoring, she finished
the first three grades. She is about to
embark on an income-generating
project and learn computer skills.
Sarah and Hajara are secondary school
students. Both girls want to be doctors. Sarah's
favorite subject is English; Hajara's is life
sciences. In Uganda, students study biology,
chemistry, and physics every year. Sarah
noted that girls her age in her village who are
not in school often get pregnant.
